E-Marine, the region’s leader in submarine cable deployment, maintenance and repair, today announced it has been selected to maintain the 5,000km submarine cable system between the UAE and Kenya. This cable route is providing Kenya and bordering countries access to international voice and data connectivity. This will also bring affordable high speed internet access to the East African Countries which is critically important for the future development of national economies on the continent.

Dubai, 14 July 2009: The 89 crew of the Cable Ship Niwa have returned safely to the UAE after a three-month mission laying a cable in East Africa. Over the course of their voyage, across the East Coast of Africa, the crew installed over 5,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable at depths of up to 5400 meters.
